Brief History and Introduction.
In 1995 I had an accident that left me in chronic pain and where one of the many medical interventions applied resulted in my being unable to walk any distance or generally function in day-to-day living. Just because my body was not working for me, my mind was still active so I decided to undertake a university degree, more out of desperation to move forward mentally and to improve my quality of life, I figured that I didn’t need to lift or carry or walk any great distance to involve myself in sitting/listening and helping others. My personal experiences with ill health/disability/and chronic pain have helped me to understand debilitating “barriers and setbacks”. My fascination with the power and strength of the mind lead me ultimately to the power of Hypnosis and its abilities to help people move forward in life with confidence and to create for themselves a life that they once envisaged, become an actuality.
I learned that one of the strongest factors contributing to hypnosis is a person’s expectancy of successful outcomes. Positive expectancy, or positive belief, leads clients to believe that the guidance implemented by the hypnotist will produce the desired result. Positive expectancies involve many perceptions, e.g. the hypnotist is seen as credible, the explanation of how hypnosis works seems to have a plausible rationale, etc. Thus, by educating clients on hypnosis, expectations are established that the associated steps taken will have a potential long-term benefit in a relatively short amount of time, increasing the likelihood of them actually doing so.
Credibility and trustworthiness are important and it is my belief that to produce the type of quality results that clients expect and deserve that one has to have the appropriate training and fulfill the criteria of a professional- properly qualified, competent, and accomplished in their skills and abilities.
I received my training in the UK and qualified in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy which is a profession approved by the Department of Health, being seen to deliver viable and cost-effective treatment and results in healthcare and management. Therefore it is not unusual to receive a referral from Doctors, Consultants, and Specialists who feel that Hypnotherapy can help their patients. These clients were always seen with the signed agreement and permission of the client understanding that the referring physician will be kept informed as to how their patient is progressing. A Hypnotherapist adheres to the same standard/ethics and practices that apply to any healthcare professional, we are professional and responsible to our clients.
In the UK hypnotherapy has a wide range of potential health benefits, used both in the emotional and physical management of many illnesses and diseases. Because there has been ongoing scientific and clinical research on the benefits of Hypnosis it is not seen as a threat to the medical profession but as an asset to helping patients when conventional medicine has limitations. In this way, Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy is well respected.
Because being trained to a high standard is paramount I trained at the Clifton Practice (UK) which is regarded as one of the most prestigious schools in England.
“The Clifton Practice is a leading teaching college, providing the Government recognized Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training Practitioner Diploma Course for future Hypnotherapists”( The Clifton Practice).
This training allowed me to qualify to become a full member of the National Council of Hypnotherapists (UK) as a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist and as a full member of the National Guild of Hypnotists (USA) as a Certified Consulting Hypnotist.
I follow the full code of ethics, practice, and standards of both these organizations.
Please contact me to arrange for your FREE (no obligation) initial consultation to discuss how hypnosis can work for you. I look forward to meeting you.
